Pavaykka thoran / Bittergourd in dry coconut paste



Ingredients:
2 bitter gourd chopped
1 big onion chopped
2 red chillies
1 tbsp tamarind juice
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
few curry leaves
salt to taste
oil

For grinding:
1/2 cup grated coconut
1/2 tbsp red chilly powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp jeera
3 shallots


Method:
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, red chillies and curry leaves, when it starts spluttering add the onions and saute till translucent.
Add the chopped bitter gourd and salt and cook on a medium heat until it becomes soft.
Now grind the ingredients for grinding into a coarse paste.
Add the tamarind juice, mix well and cook until done.
Serve with rice as a side dish...Happy meal!!!
