Mushroom Biriyani

2 cups biriyani rice
1 cup button mushroom (sliced)
1 big onion ( sliced)
1 tomato ( sliced)
3 green chillies ( chopped)
few coriander leaves and mint leaves
salt to taste

1/2 tbsp chilly powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp ghee
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 cardamom
1/4 tsp fennel seeds

For grinding:
1 tsp poppy seeds
1/4 tsp fennel seeds
1/2 tsp jeera
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick ( 1 inch length)
4 garlic cloves
1 ginger( 1 inch length)
1/4 cup mint leaves


Grind the ingredients into a smooth paste and keep aside.
Heat a pan add ghee and oil.
Add cinnamon stick , cardamom, fennel seeds saute for a min and add onions green chillies and a few mint leaves a saute until the onions are translucent.
Pour in the ground paste and cook until the raw smell goes.
Add sliced mushroom , chilly pwdr, garam masala pwdr and the rice mixing well.
Add 3 cups of hot water , and salt to taste.
Add few mint leaves and coriander leaves.
Close the lid and cook until the rice is done on a medium to low heat.
Garnish with fried onion and coriander leaves.
Serve hot with raita pickle and papad.
