My first days in the kitchen and with a party in which i was supposed to make anything out of Chicken that i knew. Now i really knew nothing and still had to make whatever be the consequences. I knew what i wanted and started ........and there i ended up with this. Now this is one such recipe that i came up with and which was a big hit at home as well as at the party.
I have used just Chicken leg piece ( Drumstick Chicken ) , i have also tried it substituting with the usual chicken pieces and it tastes the same ....its just great.
Ingredients:
4 chicken drumsticks( chicken legs)
1tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp lemon juice
2 medium size onions thinly sliced
2 medium size tomatoes
3 green chillies
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
2 tsp chopped coconut pieces
1 tsp mustard seeds
few sprigs curry leaves
salt to taste
oil
For the masala:
1 tsp chilly powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp pepper powder ( adjust accordingly )
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 1/2 tsp tomato sauce (optional)
Method:
Clean the chicken pieces and make a few cuts on the chicken.
Mix chicken with ginger garlic paste , turmeric powder and salt and keep aside.
Heat oil in a kadai pop mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Add onions and ginger garlic paste and saute until golden brown.
Add all the masalas and saute until the raw smell goes.
Cook adding the chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce ,about 1/2 cup water and salt until done.
Once its cooked separate it from the kadai.
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in the same kadai and add the chicken pieces and fry on a high heat until all the sides have turned into a golden colour.
Add the masala mixture to the chicken pieces and cook on a medium heat until done.
Garnish with chopped coconut and few curry leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
